Darrow, LA (On June 24, 2011) – Charlotte Jeffers, TMP, Tourism Coordinator of the City of Crowley was installed as a board member of Louisiana Travel Promotion Association’s, LTPA, Board of Directors at the association’s annual meeting on Friday, June 24 at Houma’s House Plantation and Gardens in Darrow, LA.

“I am honored to be serving LTPA and the nearly 800 members the association represents across the state, for a 2nd term” said Charlotte Jeffers, Board member. “This organization has been serving members of Louisiana’s tourism industry for fifty years now and I look forward to working with my fellow board members to keep the momentum going”

New officers installed on the executive board committee include the following: Fran Thibodeaux, with the Iberia Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau, CVB, as Chairman of the Board; Kyle Edmiston, with the Ruston-Lincoln CVB, as Vice Chairman of the Board; Norman Marmillion, with Laura Plantation, as Secretary of the Board; Chimene Connor with the Audubon Nature Institute of New Orleans, as Treasurer of the Board; and Alana Cooper, with the Monroe-West Monroe CVB, as Past Chairman of the Board.

New members on the board of directors and establishments/organizations they represent are Charlotte Jeffers with the City of Crowley, Kyle Edmiston with the Ruston-Lincoln CVB, April Lawrence with Cypress Bend Golf Resort and Conference Center in Shreveport and Jay Tusa with River Parishes Tourist Commission.

“Our executive committee and board of directors are responsible for helping us meet the needs of our members and making sure that we accomplish our goals of providing educational and marketing opportunities while also advocating on the industry’s behalf,” said Darienne Mobley, Co-Executive Director, LTPA. “We are excited to be starting off another year with such a great group of industry leaders that represent the entire state.”

Officers on the executive committee and members of the board of directors are elected annually by majority mail ballot. Each year, the Chairman of the Board selects a nominating committee that is comprised of members who are not up for re-election and who are not seeking office. This committee is responsible for presenting a slate to the nearly 800 members of the association that recognizes all regions of the state and all segments of the tourism industry.
