Crowley Main Street Manager Mrs. Rita Johnson announces today that the Redevelopment Incentive Grant for Exterior and Interior Rehabilitation sponsored by Louisiana Main Street has been awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rosenbaum, owners of Gremillion Drug Store. The Rosenbaum’s plans are to clean the upper front brick area, re-caulk and paint the windows. The front canopy will be extended to cover the walkway over the entrance on the south side and a new canvas valance will be installed around the perimeter of the metal canopy. The entire glazed tile on the exterior will be removed and bricks repaired or installed along with repairing and repainting of existing round column currently covered with tile. All of the existing glass entrance will be replaced with wood (period type) and all metal wall panels removed. The wood transom windows or panels currently covered by metal wall panels will be repaired and painted.
Crowley Main Street applicants competed against 35 other main street communities throughout the State of Louisiana, and one of our projects was awarded a $10,000.00 matching grant. Johnson says “we are so excited that Crowley received a grant this year and for such a large amount because in the past the amount has been much less. The restoration of Gremillion’s will be a pleasant addition to the Redevelopment Project”, Johnson says. Congratulations Gremillions.
